When the words “let’s go shopping” is spoken, most of us first get butterflies and a rush of excitement even before probing to ask which kind of shopping? Grocery, clothing? 

Regardless, it’s a date! So if you’re on this boat then you’re not alone! because who doesn’t love to shop? Everybody does!

Accra being the capital city of Ghana now boasts of the biggest malls in the country. These malls have in stock almost everything and anything you can think of, making the shopping experience even better.

The sprouting of many malls in the city does not only spur excitement but a good feeling of convenience! There is now a mall just nearby to wherever you reside or find yourself in the city!

So here is a brief list of Accra’s top TEN(10) shopping malls in Ghana. 

1. Accra Mall

Located on the Spintex road adjacent to the Tema Motorway, the Accra Mall is the only World-class shopping mall in Ghana, with over 70 choices of retail stores and entertainment offerings. Enjoy diverse cuisines at the various eateries, a cinema, and lots more. Thus, if you’re looking to view the most excellent and newest movie releases your go-to place is the Silver Bird Cinemas right inside the Accra Mall. Notwithstanding the food court that serves you a variety of the yummiest restaurants like a chicken in with one of the crunchiest chicken and pizza recipes, Le Must is an upscale French restaurant, KFC franchise, and lots more! But, don’t forget to dash by one of Ghana’s radio outlets YFM to experience a live day in the backend at the studio. Also, Mr. Price, which is open every day, has huge clothing retail for the trendiest outfits you may be searching for! Same as Shoprite and Game for all your groceries.

2. ANC Mall

The mall is located in East Legon and is open from 9 am to 8 pm each day. It is the only mall in East Legon currently.

This mall has eateries such as Honeysuckle, Pink Panda, jewelry shops, and is most popular for its lush gym/total fitness club, a pool, kiddie playground for your kids where your kids can have a great time whilst you shop, the Photostore to capture all your memories, the premium University, Lancaster University Jacob dental care graced with a max mart(a premium shopping outlet), wine shops, vegan restaurants and so much more! If you live in east legon and its environs this should be your go-to place for all your shopping.

3. West Hills Mall

West Hills is one of the top shopping and hangout spots in Ghana as well as one of the most popular malls in the country. Located in Kasoa and one of the biggest malls in West Africa spans 27,700 square meters in size with parking for more than 1,500 cars. With more than 30 shops, including popular fashion brands like Edgars, Mango, and Identity, 8 restaurants such us Creamy Inn for your ice cream, Basilissa, Barcelona, Chicken Inn, Stanbic Bank, the Vodafone and MTN outlets, photo store, a Casino, 4 Health and  Beauty services and the Silverbirdcinema and a playground for kids, definitely the West Hills is a must visit in Accra.

4. Palace Mall

 Founded in 2005 it started as a 1,500 sqm. The store has now grown to be the leading name in modern retail in Ghana today. It is a hypermarket/department store fusion concept with several of the world’s top brands under one roof.

Currently, Palace has 6 branches (5 in Accra, and 1 in Kumasi) You can find the Accra branches as follows;

5. Achimota Mall

 Exciting news! If you live in Achimota, Dome, Lapaz, St. Johns, or Ashongman, then brace yourselves because something awesome is here. Yes! It’s in your neighborhood! No more long journeys just to shop or to have a cool hang out.

The Achimota Retail Centre is a shopping center located at Dome near the St. John’s Grammar School, along the Accra-Nsawam highway in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. On the premise, the Achimota Mall has huge parking, and a food court as well as lots of prestigious and famous Ghanaian or international franchises like KFC,  Pizza Inn, also, 2 supermarkets (Game and Shoprite), wig stores, international clothing stores where you can get the most authentic sports gear! plus electronic & furniture shops. 

The place has some beautiful water fountains and a 3D cinema room loved by kids. No need to say that selfies and pictures will be great there due to the place’s design and lighting at night. 

6. Oxford Street Mall

It is a shopping center on Oxford Street in Accra, Osu. The Mall has restaurants, anchor shops, cinemas, banks, casinos, etc. Some of its leading tenants include MTN, Shoprite, Photostore, etc. 

The Oxford street mall is just about 10minutes from Sandbox Beach and 15 minutes from Labadi beach, La Palm beach hotel. Osu is very vibrant with many banks, hangout spots such as republic, front back, alley bar, Bloom Bar, Papaye fast food, the Koala shopping center, and lots of vendors selling top-notch African-Ghanaian merchandise!, a night market which is very interesting because lots of us are used to day markets, however, the Osu night market is always packed at night as people come out to shop food items and lots more even late into the night! If you want to experience a little bustle in Ghana, do not only visit the Osu mall to shop but walk the streets of Osu and experience Osu for yourself.

 7. Junction Mall

The Junction Mall is a great haven for the kids as they can have lots of fun at the various playground facilities at their disposal at the mall. The Junction Mall is the landmark of shopping, dining, and fun. It is a desirable destination for people who love quality, beauty, and tranquillity. Located in the suburb of Nungua in Accra, Ghana. The junction shopping center is the go-to venue for residents in search of popular clothing brands and restaurants anchored with the Shoprite store and Decathlon. Do you live around Teshie, Nungua, Tse-Addo, etc? Want a quick grab of groceries or clothing then dash to the Junction Mall! 

8. Marina Mall

Marina Mall is one of Ghana’s newest and one-stop shopping and business centers located in Airport City. It is an ultra-modern shopping mall with over 40 shops and aisles. Situated near the airport and easily reachable from all sides of the city, Marina Mall features 45 outlets across three floors, including designer fashion, a big supermarket, a food court, etc. Marina mall is the closest to the airport and also has lots of restaurants and premium hotels just around the hotel. You should find the Marriott Hotel and Holiday Inn Hotel just 3 minutes’ walk from the mall, a place to relax and have some cocktails after shopping. Also, Luna Bar can be found on the rooftop of the marina mall serving the epitome of day and nightlife. Luna Bar is one of Ghana’s, high-toned visited Bars for its themed events and vibrant atmosphere.

9. Oyarifa Mall

Oyarifa Mall is a 10,000 sqm shopping center located off the N4 Highway near the Accra-Aburi intersection, designed to offer the community a convenient, safe, and secure shopping and entertainment experience destination with varieties.  The China Mall is one of Ghana’s well-stocked malls with branches in Accra, Kumasi, Tema, etc. The China Mall offers a wide range of quality products to its customers at competitive prices. The outlet stocks electronic home appliances, home decor, furniture products, bags, luggage, alcoholic & nonalcoholic beverages, and much more. The China Mall can be located on Spintex road in Accra.
